Edna Lee (Lockamy) McLaurin

Edna Lee Lockamy McLaurin, 90, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Edna was born on September 13, 1934, in Sampson County, NC, to the late William David Lockamy and Hattie Elizabeth Tyndall Lockamy.  She retired from the Cumberland County Board of Education after 32 years of service.  

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Hershall Merel McLaurin; son, Franklin Lee McLaurin; grandson, Adam Ivey Carter; and great-grandson, Bryan Elijah Strickland.   

Edna is survived by her children, Rose Marie Edmondson, Elizabeth Mae Wade, and David Merel McLaurin and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Joshua Paul Edmondson and wife, Jennifer, Evan Parrish Wade, Connor David McLaurin and wife, Korra; great-grandchildren, James Dean Vian, John Paul Edmondson, and Katherine Elizabeth Edmondson. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
