Mr. Edward Lanier Williams, 99, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Williams joined the United States Army in 1944 and was injured while serving during World War II, after which he was medically retired. He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, followed by burial with full military honors at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Nordan Williams.
He is survived by his sons: Edward L. Williams II and wife, Dr. Betty Jean Meyer, of Norfolk, Virginia; Jeffrey N. Williams and wife, Jill, of Fayetteville; and Stanley P. Williams and wife, Rebecca, of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hua Qiu R. Williams, Pei N. Williams, Kyle E. Williams and wife Angela, Virginia W. Teel and husband Shane, Joshua P. Williams, Zachary J. Williams and wife Jaci, John E. S. Williams, and Michaela G. Williams; and nine great-grandchildren: David, John, Alyna, Nordan, Charlotte, Asher, Ezra, Samuel, and Jonah.
