Ernest G. McCoy

Ernest Glenn McCoy, 77, of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Autumn Care of Fayetteville.

Ernest was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Vietnam War.

Ernest was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device.

Ernest is preceded in death by his brothers, Mick, Paul, Fred McCoy and his sisters, Toni Mink, Jackie Reedy, and Shirley McCoy.

Ernest was a former Fayetteville Police Officer, Ft. Bragg CID, Intensive Probation Parole Officer, and worked with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in multiple roles.

He enjoyed watching college basketball, riding his motorcycle, and he loved living at North Myrtle Beach and socializing with his friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at MacPherson Presbyterian Church (3525 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303) with Dr. James Randall, officiating with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

He is survived by a son, Scott McCoy and his fiancée Diana Pierce; sisters, Pam McCoy Brooks and Debbie McCoy Dunford; brother Dave McCoy and grandson, Tyler Boyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Police Foundation or to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Autumn Care of Fayetteville and to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice.
