Frank Carpenter passed away January 12, 2025, at home surrounded by family and laughter after a brief battle with angio sarcoma related to Agent Orange exposure.
Frank was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1948 to Joseph Dodd and Mary Cecilia Carpenter. One of six surviving children, Frank lived around the world prior to the family settling in Fayetteville at the then Fort Bragg. Drafted into military service, Frank was a forward observer in Vietnam. After that, he returned to Fayetteville where he started a long career at Kelly Springfield and then met BG on the best blind date. They married in 1972 and later in 1978 Frank settled into his best role - Dad. He was an outstandingly silly uncle, brother, supportive husband, and quietly philanthropic all while being a tireless father. Frank would discuss any point of history but became truly animated when telling of his family, his girls, and his absolute favorite - his grandchildren. Frank made sure everyone knew just how much he enjoyed his favorite job - Poppie.
Frank’s final years were marked with struggle, but his family rejoices as he is now living his eternal life, free from pain and sorrow, in the presence of the Lord.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Eric Hall, brother Joe, sister Polly, and granddaughter Eliana. He is survived by his devoted wife BG; daughter Cecilia and husband Frank; daughter Catherine and husband Josh; grandchildren Delaina, Olive K, Theodore, and Everett; sister Mary Jane Shrader of Virginia; brother Jimmy Carpenter of Fayetteville; sister Nora Stevens of Salemburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:30 am at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial from 10 to 11:30 am at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
