Gaynelle Johnson West, 89 of Fayetteville, NC passed away at home on Saturday, December 25, 2021
Gaynelle Johnson West went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving children. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bobby Sherrill West.
Gaynelle was born November 21, 1932 to the late Loren and Novena Barefoot Johnson in Johnston County, NC and predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Kimi West and son-in-law, Billy Bass.
Gaynelle graduated from Meadow High School in 1951 as Salutatorian and graduated from Highsmith-Rainey School of Nursing in 1954 and remained at Highsmith Hospital her entire nursing career of 45 years as a RN and Nursing Supervisor. She met her one true love during her nursing school days and on December 18, 1954 she married her soulmate Bobby Sherrill West.
Gaynelle was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Fayetteville, where over the years she was in the choir, treasurer, VIP Director WMU and hostess until 2017. The love she had for her Lord shined through until her last breath.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10 am at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8:00 pm. She is survived by her daughter, Donna West Bass, and twin sons, Bobby D. West and Kenneth S. West and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Bobbie Redding and husband Cameron, Corinna Davis and husband Brent, Chad West, Tiffany Horne and husband Jeremy, Joshua McLamb and wife Brittany; great-grandchildren, Hadley Cole Redding, Kimberlie Davis, Jonah Davis, Landon and Hunter Horne, Alanna Carey and Rilynn McLamb; sister, Linda Johnson Wheeler and husband Deleon; brother, Glenwood Johnson and wife Faye; niece, Stephanie Wheeler Stephens, two nephews, Dean Johnson and Ashley Wheeler
