George Stanley Obituary

Chief Warrant Officer George W. Stanley Retired U.S. Army, 86, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

George was born November 28, 1934 in Jefferson, TX to the late Mary and Alfred Stanley.

George served 6 months in the U.S. Navy and 21 years in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1974 at the rank of CW-3.

His awards include Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Unit Citation, Meritorious Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster. George served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

George was employed 13 years and 8 months as a Civil Servant. For one year he served as recorder of the Ft. Bragg Child and Spouse Abuse Board and the remainder as a Voucher Examiner in Accounts Payable.

A private family committal service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with military honors.

George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helene Stanley; sons, Jurgen Stanley (DeeDee) and Stephan Stanley (Mary); brother, William Stanley; grandchildren, Sean Stanley, Ryan Stanley, Christopher Stanley, and Jennifer Rash; 6 great-grandchildren.
