Geraldine (Westbrook) Hibst

Geraldine “Gerry” Westbrook Hibst, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.

Gerry was born April 14, 1938 in Robeson County, NC to the late Herbert and Rosa Walters Westbrook. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Robert Westbrook; and sister, Barbara Gordon.

Gerry was a devoted homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was the primary parent for David and Audrey during their younger years and teens while her husband was on three unaccompanied tours and countless deployments while in the Army. As her husband was transferred to different posts, she established new residences in Ft. Benning, Ft. Riley, Ft. Rucker, Okinawa, and Ft. Bragg.

The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 11:30-1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Bragg, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph “Dave” Hibst; son, David M. Hibst (Barbara), daughter, Audrey L. Napier (Ronnie); brother, Buddy Westbrook (Olga); grandchildren, Stephen M. Hibst, Jessica Stanley (Austin), Shea Ronson (Adam); and 5 great-grandchildren.
