Gerlinde Brooks, 83, passed away on April 19, 2025, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Born on November 4, 1941, Gerlinde led a life marked by dedication and grace. She built a respected career as a stenographer and office manager, serving with distinction in positions with the U.S. Army in Bad Tölz, Germany. Later, she continued her professional journey at the University of Georgia in the sports administration office.
Gerlinde was deeply devoted to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Morris; daughters, Jay Cramer and Patricia Boobas; grandchildren Erika, Gabrielle, Cavin, Colton, Kelcee, Zack, and Nick; and great-grandchildren Adriel and Wesley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Loyd Brooks, as well as her parents Mina and Franz Bucher.
Outside of her professional life, Gerlinde found joy in nature and community. An avid gardener and proud member of an orchid society, she nurtured beauty both in her home and among friends. Her involvement in German club activities reflected her heritage and love for cultural connection. Gerlinde also had a kind heart for animals and supported the ASPCA.
A funeral service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on June 10 at 2:00 p.m., honoring her life and legacy.
