Gloria Sineath Burton

Gloria Sharon Sineath Burton was born August 15, 1936, in Orangeburg, SC, to Jessie Ella & Julius Barney Sineath, Jr.  She graduated from St. Paul’s High School and attended Worth Business College. She was a devoted member of Hay Street United Methodist Church for 64 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Hugh Davis Burton, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia and fiancé, Trent Palmer of Parkton; son, Davis and wife, Karen of Holly Ridge; grandchildren, Caroline Parnell of Mt. Juliet, TN, Robert Parnell of Durham, Courtney Schmitter (Steven) of Wilmington;  great- grandchildren, Harper & Eliza Bailey Schmitter; sister, Eleanor Wannamaker of Norway, SC; brother, J.B. Sineath, III and wife, Mary Ann of Ellabell, GA; sister-in-law, Margaret and husband, Jim of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Mary and husband, D.C. of Fayetteville; brother-in-law, Harold Moag of Greensboro; 11 nieces and one nephew.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Grace, and husband, Mac Denning; in-laws, Dorothy & Hugh Burton, Sr.; son-in-law, Robert Parnell; Aunt & Uncle Iona & Herman Brisson; and sister-in-law, Ann Moag.

The family would like to thank her special friend, Doris Kirby, for her love and special care.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Hay St UMC Steeple Fund.

A committal service will be held on Friday January 10, 2025 at 11am in Cross Creek #3

Visitation will be held on Friday January 10, 2025 from 11:30 -12:30pm in Hay Street United Methodist Church Parlor with memorial service following at 12:30pm in the Sanctuary
