Harold Leighton Alphin, 90, died peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Heritage Place in Fayetteville.
Harold, a longtime resident of Cumberland County, was born May 28, 1930 to the late Fannie Roberta and Oliver Hartman Alphin, Sr. He was preceded in death by brother, Oliver Alphin, Jr. and sisters, Vera Belle Alphin, Eva Gray Brown, and Melba Hamilton. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Alphin of Raleigh, NC, whom he was very close to.
Harold was a lifelong member of Judson Baptist Church. He was a bookkeeper for JP Stevens Textile Corporation and Dickinson Buick-Dodge of Fayetteville, NC. He served in the US Marine Corps.
Harold was a beloved and special uncle to his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed family events and getting together for outings with his friends. He was relied on as the Alphin family historian. He was a good neighbor to his many friends at Sunny Side Apartments in Vander, where he resided for over ten years. He had a great sense of humor, was extremely intelligent, and had an avid interest in antiques. Harold was a good caregiver for his sisters. Harold will be missed by many.
Private Family Graveside services will be held at Judson Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Brookshire, officiating. The family request that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
