Harold Kinnon Warren, 93, of Fayetteville, died on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Warren was born April 30, 1928, in Sampson County, North Carolina to his father Willis Ennis Warren, and mother, Cleone McLamb Warren.
Mr. Warren graduated from Campbell Junior College, Wake Forest College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, East Carolina College with a Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree in School Administration. He did his first year, teaching at Clement High School in Sampson County, after this year, Mr. Warren came to Fayetteville and worked with the YMCA as Program Director for two years. He returned to education and became principal of Cedar Creek Elementary School, for three years.
Mr. Warren was then assigned as principal of Pine Forest High School where he remained in this position for 32 years before retiring in 1990. He then became a Licensed Funeral Director with Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home for 22 years.
Mr. Warren joined Snyder Memorial Baptist Church after coming to Fayetteville in 1951. He was an Ordained Deacon and taught the 16-Year-Old Boys Sunday School Class for 25 years.
Mr. Warren was a past member of the Cumberland County Public Library and Information Center Board of Trustees. He served on the Presidential Board of Advisors at Campbell University. He was elected by Campbell University as the Distinguished Alumnus of the year 2005. He was awarded the Order of The Long Leaf Pine on April 30, 2008. After he retired from education in 1990, the Pine Forest High School Football Stadium was named in his honor.
A private family service will be held.
His survivors include his wife, Annie Teague Warren; daughter, Martha Warren Turvey and husband Dr. Timothy Turvey of Chapel Hill; grandsons, Dr. Blake Turvey and Dr. McKenzie Turvey; daughter, Alyce Warren Finocchio of Wilmington.
