Irmgard Ruth (Zilius) Price

Irmgard Ruth (Zilius) Price, 84, of Fayetteville, North Carolina ascended from the limitations and bounds of her earthly body on June 23, 2025 surrounded by her family in her daughter’s home in Hope Mills, North Carolina. A beloved Mama, Oma, Omi, Little Grandma, and Friend, Ruth’s life was marked by love, empathy, loyalty, and kindness.

Born to Anna Theofilie and Jonas Zilius in Memel, Lithuania, on June 3, 1941, she began her earthly life during a difficult time in European history.  Ruth never knew a stranger and was a friend to all, making meaningful connections everywhere and in every day of her life on Earth.

Ruth loved her family fiercely. She believed in being gracious and kind to others, demonstrating her deep Catholic faith. She was a classically trained tailor, training, apprenticing, and working in a fashion house in Baden-Baden, Germany, and created beautiful clothing for her family, friends, and professionally in her work in retail clothing in North Carolina. Ruth also was very talented in needlepoint, crafting a multitude of lovely canvases her family will continue to appreciate for generations to come. She took great pride in becoming an American citizen on April 15, 2011, and was a loyal patriot. 

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Joanie Cooke and Carrie Wood; her sons-in-law, Thomas Cooke and Mitchell Griffin; her grandchildren, Allen Griffin and Maximillian Wood; her greatgrandchildren, Skyler Griffin and Allena Griffin. Ruth is now reunited with her eldest daughter, Stormy Griffin who left her earthly body in November, 2022.

The family will hold a private celebration of Ruth’s life and release of her ashes in the coming future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in honor of Ruth Price to The Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, located in St. Pauls, North Carolina.
