James M. Butler, Jr.

Mr. James “Junior” Butler, 88, of Fayetteville, NC, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family.

James was born October 10, 1935, in Parkton, NC, to the late James Marion Butler and Elma Weaver Butler. He was a retired police officer with the Fayetteville City Police Department.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Butler.

James is survived by his daughters, Gail Butler Dickens and husband Larry of Buies Creek, Jean Butler Britt, of Fayetteville, Elaine Butler Stoker and husband Rick of Fayetteville, and Angie Butler Britt and husband John of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Jamie Britt Strout and husband Jonathan, Chris Britt, Faith Dickens Fitzgerald and husband Dave, Kyle Stoker and wife Ashley, Becca Britt Hudson and husband Brandon, Julianne Britt Simmons and husband Carlos; and seven great-grandchildren, Dean Stoker, Lexi Stoker, Kaleb Strout, Phoenix Strout, Nate Fitzgerald, Izzie Fitzgerald, Charlotte Hudson; his sister Mary Butler Martinez, and a large, loving extended family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 12:50 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a service beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
