James Franklin Hutsell

James “Jamie” Hutsell, Jr., 50, of Raeford, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Jamie was born on March 18, 1974, in Columbus County. He was employed as a truck driver with several companies throughout his career, with his longest tenure at USF Holland and most recent with Averitt Express.

He was the best dad in the world, and beyond perfect as a husband, dad, brother, and uncle. Jamie was a family man and devout Christian, who loved the Lord above all else and shared Jesus with everyone he could. He attended church regularly where he was often able to share his passion for music by working with the media team or playing the drums.

On many days, he could be found in a golf cart or at a golf range where he was constantly trying to improve his swing and golf game. If he wasn’t in a golf cart, you could find him on his zero-turn lawn mower freshly manicuring his lawn to be as immaculate as the golf course greens. One of Jamie’s favorite places on Earth was to be on, or near, any body of water, fishing with his boys. Most often of all, though, Jamie could be found spending time with his family and friends, smiling from ear to ear, and making jokes to fill the whole room with laughter and joy.

Jamie was preceded by his father, James Hutsell, Sr. and his mother, Wanda Hutsell Howell. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Catherine “Cathy” Miller Hutsell; sons, Steven Hutsell and Benjamin Hutsell and wife, Logan, along with his first grandson to arrive in July; fur baby, Lexi Grace; sister, Tracey Jose, and husband, Ed; stepfather, Walter Howell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at First Church, located at 2813 Cumberland Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28306, with the Celebration of Life service to begin at 12 p.m. Immediately following the service, you’re invited to join the family at his final resting place, Lafayette Memorial Park and Mausoleum located at 2301 Ramsey Street Fayetteville, NC 28301.

The service will be a Celebration of Life—friends and family are encouraged to wear colorful attire.
