James Lemuel Jones

James Lemuel Jones, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Womack Army Medical Center.

James was born on December 22, 1942, in New Hanover County to James Chalmers Jones and Dorthea Smith Jones.  He is an Air Force Veteran and served as a firefighter at Pope AFB.  Upon discharge from the USAF, he worked Civil Service as a Fire Inspector at Pope.  After retirement, he opened his own business, Pine Forest Electric and later worked part-time at Big Lots.

James liked to go to the beach to eat seafood and go fishing.  He loved traveling, cruises, reading, and watching westerns on TV.

He is survived by his children, Tina Schroeder; Stephanie Richardson, Annette Starkings, JC Jones and April Jones; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.   

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11am at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
