Janet (Dickens) Adams

Janet Dickens Adams of Fayetteville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. 

Mrs. Adams was born on January 29, 1933, to the late Sadie Dickens of Rocky Mount, NC.  She lived in Rocky Mount until she married her late husband, James Robert Adams.  After moving to a couple of other towns, they settled in Fayetteville, NC.  Mrs. Adams was a loving and committed wife and mother of three sons who adored her.  She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom until becoming a Teacher Assistant at Alma Eason and Vanstory Hills Elementary Schools.  Mrs. Adams was active in the Red Hat Society and Order of the Eastern Star #334 for which she was recently awarded her pin for 50 years of service.  She attended Cedar Falls Baptist Church.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Adams; two sons, Robert Blake Adams and James Keith Adams; and sister, Ruth “Bo” Booth.  She is survived by her son, Edward Mitchell Adams of Fayetteville; grandson, Dustin Mitchell Adams of Clarkton, NC; brother, Edward Milton Dickens of Rocky Mount, NC; nieces, Ann Ess, Joan Booth, and Linda Faye Kelly; nephews, Ronnie Booth and Michael Booth; and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 11 to 11:45 am at Cedar Falls Baptist Church on Ramsey St.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm in the Church.  Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park also on Ramsey St.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Janet’s memory to Cedar Falls Baptist Church, The American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
