Jerry Lane Clemmons, 74, of Fayetteville, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at the UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus.
Jerry was born July 14th, 1950, to Henton Hall and Ina Mae Cole Clemmons and grew up going to Person Street United Methodist Church. He attended Central High School in Eastover, NC and then attended Methodist University, where he majored in Business Administration, graduating in 1972.
After graduation, Jerry began working in the real world in the banking industry with NCNB. Jerry was involved in the community as a member of the Fayetteville Jaycees, a Junior Chamber of young professionals who worked to improve their community through leadership training and community service.
Around this time, Jerry enjoyed visiting Williams Lake and enjoying his absolute favorite thing in the world, beach music. He befriended a member of The Tams, Robert Smith, as they continued this friendship for years and years after; Jerry even convinced The Tams come play at his son Lane’s fraternity’s 150th Anniversary Celebration at UNC Chapel Hill. Speaking of some of his favorite things, Jerry enjoyed nothing more than playing on a beautiful golf course and he absolutely loved the Tarheels.
Jerry never met a stranger and took pride in forging those close relationships throughout his entire life. He was most definitely a people person and had without a doubt, the gift of gab.
Jerry spent most of his career in the car business. Lafayette Ford, Stewart Olds, to name a couple of dealerships, until he and Mr. George Purvis, Sr. established quite the affinity and ultimately grew into a very close-knit relationship with the Purvis Family.
He went on to be the General Manager at Patrick Ford in the 1990’s, while taking on the role of Patrick Ford’s liaison with the new sponsorship of the “Iron Man” of NASCAR, Ricky Rudd, and his #10 Tide Ford Thunderbird. Since getting out of the car business, Jerry succeeded and achieved almost every accolade you can in the insurance industry and he and his wife, Shelia, were able to enjoy numerous trips around the world because of those achievements.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shelia Boggs Clemmons; his son Christopher Lane Clemmons; daughter Nicole Pearce and fiancé Brandon Raynor; Sister-in-Law Brenda Clemmons and nephew Tommy Clemmons, Jr.; niece Melissa Guinn and husband Steve Guinn; niece Esther Lynn and husband Jon Hemphill; niece Donna Marie and husband Mike Smart; niece Marsha Walthall; niece Renee Bueing and nephew Oscar Walters, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father Henton Hall and mother Ina Mae Cole Clemmons; his Sister-in-Law Margaret Clemmons; niece Cathy Bennett; sister Betty Walters and husband Buddy Walters; brother Tommy Clemmons and brother Vernon Hall Clemmons.
