Joann Cochran Beam of Fayetteville, North Carolina departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2021 in the Carolina Inn Assisted Living of Fayetteville, NC. She was born in Hardy, Arkansas on June 9, 1930 to Arthur Wright Cochran, Sr. and Maude Bristow Cochran, youngest of eight children. She graduated from Hardy, Arkansas High School, then became a registered nurse/anesthesiologist, with a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She was a long-time member of the Hay Street United Methodist Church of Fayetteville.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, A. W. and Maude Cochran, husbands Albert Dreston Booth and Charles S. Beam, sisters Aileen Bender, Mary Louise Boyce, Alice Marie Robinson, Evelyn Sue Richotte, and brother Harry Gordon Cochran. Surviving family members include one sister, Dorothy Jean Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas, one brother, A. W. Cochran, Jr. of Aurora, Colorado, one son, Donald Dreston (Janiece) Booth of Ash Flat, Arkansas, two grandchildren, Ashley (Angie) Booth of Springdale, Arkansas, and Carissa (Gabe) Snearly of Ash Flat, Arkansas, two step-children, Randy Beam of Peachtree City, GA, and Ann Leahy of Cape May, New Jersey, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
No services are planned; interment will be at a later date in Ash Flat Cemetery, Ash Flat, Arkansas. In accordance with Joann’s wishes, memorials may be made to the Hay Street Methodist Church, 320 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
