Johanna Gross Edge

Fayetteville —Johanna Gross Edge, born in 1935, passed away at age 86 in her daughter's home in Fayetteville N.C. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. She was the daughter of Dorothea and Heinrich Gross of Wiesbaden, Germany and the sister of Christina, Helmut and Karlheinz Gross, all of whom preceded her in death.

Johanna was married to Thomas "Cootie" Edge, the love of her life for 62 years, and she was heartbroken when he passed away in 2018. As an Air Force wife, she made a home for her family all over the United States, Germany and Guam, and wherever she went and whatever she did, she did it in style. She loved her home and kitchen and brought joy to those lucky enough to be recipients of her wonderful home cooking. She was blessed with a loving family, good friends, kind neighbors and Gloria Knight, her compassionate caregiver, who found a place in our family's hearts. Mom left us quietly and peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her.

Johanna is survived by her daughter Wanda (John) Parker of Orofino, Idaho, daughter Tammy (Kevin) Patton of Fayetteville, N.C., and son Monty (Amy) Edge of Mebane, N.C. She will be missed by grandchildren Shiloh Marsh, Jeremy and Maria Parker, Steve, Alisa and Jeff Bartel, Emily Patton, and Hunter and Austin Edge, as well as many great grandchildren.

We are grateful for each family member, friend and neighbor who helped Johanna and our family in so many ways, and a celebration of Johanna's life and all of you will be announced at a later date.
