John William Autry, Sr.

John William Autry, Sr., aged 85, passed away on December 10, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

John was born on November 19, 1939, in Fayetteville, NC.

He was employed by Trailways Bus Company and Tart's TV Furniture and Appliance Company.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness shared with those fortunate enough to have known him. His unwavering dedication to family and his gentle spirit will forever be cherished.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Jerome Autry and Ada Ethel Hemingway Autry and sister, Joyce Autry Briggs.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Autry; children, Donna Autry Squires and husband, Willie, Phyllis Autry Taylor, and John W. Autry, Jr, who were truly blessed to have such a loving dad;  6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and special grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC.  Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm, at Lafayette Memorial Cemetery at 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC.
