John Elliott Copeland, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Mr. Copeland was born the youngest of 12 children on July 16, 1936, in Jamestown, Alabama to the late Eligah Alexander Copeland and Minnie Reynolds Copeland.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and from Healy Wholesale where he worked as night checkup, driver, supervisor and in marketing. He was an avid golfer. While serving in the Army, he was employed at Stryker Golf Course.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Northwood Temple. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. - 11 :00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Copeland was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Copley Copeland; daughters, Camille Starr, Michele Moorehead and husband, Thomas; brother, Hugh Copeland; grandchildren, Kristine, Chelsea, Morgan, Andrew, Brandon and Emma; great grandchildren, Alisah, Kayleigh, Kendall, Beckett, Harper, Ryder, Kinley, and baby Jaxon to arrive in January.
