Major John F. Hall, Retired, passed peacefully in his sleep May 31, 2022, in the care of the NC State Veterans Home, Fayetteville, NC.

He was born January 10, 1932, in Anderson, SC to John P. (JP) and Doris Hall, their only child.

“Johnny” grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson Boys High School in 1950. He attended Clemson Military College. While a student at Clemson, he wed his childhood sweetheart, Delia McCallum in 1953. John and “Dee” raised five children and celebrated their 69th Anniversary this past February.

John began his military career in the National Guard. He transitioned to active duty US Army after leaving school and was commissioned through OCS. Upon retirement from service, John went into business in Fayetteville, NC. He was the co-owner of Big Farmers Warehouse/Economy Self- Storage. He was an active member and Elder of Reilly Road Presbyterian Church, a member of Fayetteville Rotary and a strong supporter of local military museums and Habitat for Humanity.

John was an avid sports fan. In addition to sports, he was passionate about electric trains, airplanes of all kinds and cars. He collected coins, military memorabilia and anything “you can fiddle with!” He enjoyed children of all ages and his many dogs.
