John Wayne Hill, Jr., 58, peacefully passed away at his home in Hope Mills on November 26, 2025. Wayne was born on May 28, 1967, at Fort Dix, NJ, but returned to Fayetteville, NC as a child where he lived until his death.
Wayne attended Southview High School and UNC-Wilmington on a baseball scholarship for one year. He worked at Coffman Plumbing for approximately 20 years until Cape Fear Valley Healthcare recruited him to work in the Engineering Department as a plumber. He remained employed at Cape Fear until he became too ill to work. He enjoyed his work and his coworkers,
Wayne loved riding his Harley, camping and hiking. He also loved the beach and fishing; and spent many times with his Swansboro family of friends. Wayne was a good friend and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Surviving Wayne are his wife, Renee Warner Hill, sons, Allen and John Hill, stepchildren Brad (Lynda) and granddaughter Kathryn, Maggie Talton and Ian Talton.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Crosspointe Church, 7030 Rockfish Road, Fayetteville, NC.
