Johnny Ford Johnson, 97, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his home with his beloved family by his side.
Johnny was born October 17, 1923 in Johnston County, NC to the late Dora Atkinson and James Oscar Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille White Johnson; brothers, Willie and James Johnson; sisters, Lilly Hester, Inez Pettus, Lona Phillips, and Ermie Godwin; nephews, Phil White, Clifton Johnson, and Russell Godwin.
Johnny was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Jubilee Sunday School Class. He was the former owner and operator of the Community Market for 23 years. Johnny was a former manager of the ABC Store for 15 years. He was a member of the Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge #679.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 12 noon at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert M. James, officiating. The burial will follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church in the Memorial Lounge from 11-11:50 am on Wednesday.
Johnny is survived by his nieces, Carolyn Avery of Dunn, Brenda Watson and husband Thurman of Dunn, Sandra Revel and husband Ray of Raleigh, Susan Butler of Raleigh, Karen Isner of Greensboro; nephew, Jim Hobbs of Durham; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 201 Anderson St. Fayetteville, NC 28301.
The family would like to thank Cape Fear Valley Hospice and Corinna Connors, Judy Phillips, and Wanette Washington for their care and compassion shown to Johnny over the last year.
