Jolene Cain Hopper, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Village Green Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jolene was born August 9, 1934, in Bladen County to Rufus Alpine Cain and Bessie Cornelia Rice Cain and graduated from White Oak High School. She was a member of Live Oak Methodist Church as a child and joined Cedar Creek Baptist Church at age 17 and remained active throughout her adult life. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, led the Girls in Action (GA’s) mission group, was a part of the Women on Mission group, sang in the church choir, and led the children/youth choir for many years. As a senior adult, she was a part of the Golden Echoes senior citizen’s group.
Through the years, she worked at Fisher’s Grocery Store, Fleishman’s Style Shop, Lucille Souders Elementary School Cafeteria and of course, the Hopper’s Farm with her husband, Duvell.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Duvell J. Hopper, sisters, Roma Cain Askea, Catherine Cain Smith, brothers, Charles LaVerle Cain and Clayton Cain.
She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Hopper Scott(George) and Janice Hopper Southard(Danny); son, Steven Hopper (Ydonna); four grandchildren, Nathan Scott (Amber), Allyson Scott, Megan Hall (Justin), Morgan Harper (Robbie); seven great grandchildren, Mckenna Scott, Piper Scott, Declan Scott, Liberty Scott, Cooper Hall, Vada Jolene Hall, and Bradey Harper; sisters, Betty Joyce Blackman and Betty Jean Guy; and sister-in-law, Mary Cain.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 1pm to 2:45 pm at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
