Joseph "Tommy" Thomas Burke, Jr.

Joseph Thomas "Tommy" Burke, Jr., 80,  of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Tommy was a member of Gardner's United Methodist Church and retired from UPS after 38 years of service.  While at UPS he received numerous awards and recognition, one being the 3 Million Mile Club, that’s 120 times around the world, accident free. After retiring from UPS Tommy was a member of North Carolina Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief, he drove for 6 years, hundreds of miles to bring relief to devastated areas.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Thomas Burke, Sr.; his mother, Gladys Preston; sisters, Josephine Gonzales and Becky Akers; nieces, Ronda Sweet and Tammy Mason; and nephew, Frank Gonzales.

He is survived by his son, Marlon Burke; his grandson, Colby Burke; 4 great grandchildren;. his sister, Sue Kay; nephew and wife, Jody and Marlo Akers; niece and husband, Debbie and Danny Martinez; nephew and wife, Russ and Cindy Mason; niece and husband, Dina and David LaFebre; and numerous great nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 1 to 2 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel with burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St.
