Joseph Anthony “Tony” Brunson, 63, of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2023, at UNC Hospital.
Tony was born on August 3. 1960 in Cumberland County to the late Robert and Lillian Brunson. He was a graduate of Douglas Byrd High School. He enjoyed playing golf, where he was known on the golf course as T-Bone and Tony Two Socks. Tony played his last round of golf with his daughter Savannah in a Special Olympics Tournament at Gates Four Golf Course.
If ever there was a loving and giving person, it was Tony. He was loved and known in the neighborhood by all the children as Mr. Tony. His passion was rescuing animals, he would feed hotdogs to the turtles in the ponds at Bayonet Golf Course where he lived and to lefty the goose. However, his dog Ike was his sidekick.
Tony had a quick wit and always had a joke to tell. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
Tony was a hard worker, after high school at 16 years of age he worked at Tiny Town where he assembled cribs and started his first business, Tony Brunson Homes. Then he began working at Rick Hendrick Toyota and then moved to Car Quest where he worked for many years. For the past 18 years he has worked as the Finance Manager for Hope Mills Saw and Mower as well as the Manager of the family business, Brunson Mobile Home Park.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Michelle Moody Brunson; daughter, Savannah Brunson; sisters, Ann McAllister, and husband John and Judy Edge; brother, Bob Brunson; he was the father figure to his nieces and nephew, Kristen, Heather, and Michael.
