Kay Brady Player passed away September 14, 2023, after an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 80 years old.
Kay was born November 29, 1942, in Fayetteville, but grew up in Raeford, NC. A 1961 graduate of Hoke County High School, Kay attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC and thereafter received her Bachelors’ Degree from Pembroke State College.
Kay taught First Grade at Reilly Road Elementary School in Fayetteville in the late 1960s before the birth of her son. Thereafter, Kay remained at home and devoted herself to her family.
Kay had a bold and tenacious spirit which she brought to everything she said and did. Kay loved her family, her heritage, her yard, her dogs, being in nature and a good laugh. These were loves she maintained to the very end.
Kay is predeceased by her parents, Harold K. Brady, and Mary Blair Brady of Raeford. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lonnie M. Player of Fayetteville; her son, Lonnie M. Player, Jr. and wife, Dana, of Fayetteville; step-granddaughter, Alexandria Justice of Durham; brother, Harold K. Brady and wife, Cynthia, of Southern Pines, NC, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 5 to 7 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A Private Graveside service will be held later at Lafayette Memorial Park.
