Kimberly Joy Pike, 66, of Spring Lake, N.C., formerly of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully at UNC Chapel Hill, surrounded by loved ones, on September 4, 2025.
Kimberly was born on February 2, 1959, in French Camp, California, to parents CSM (Ret.) Max and Donna Recod.
She worked for Waffle House, store #365 in Fayetteville, N.C., for more than 25 years. Most recently, Kimberly served as the venue and event hostess at The Venue at Venus Vogue, where her joyful smile, warm hospitality, and kind spirit welcomed every guest and made each occasion special. Kimberly never met a customer—or a stranger—that she didn’t like, or who didn’t love her back. Her friends became family, and her family was her greatest blessing.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her mother and her sister, Dianna. She is survived by her devoted husband of 14 years, Mickey Pike; her daughter, Tiffany DeSilva, and husband Aaron; her father, CSM (Ret.) Max Recod; sister Venus de la Cruz (and husband Efrain “Freddie”) and brothers, Max K. Recod (and wife Pamela) and David.
She was a proud grandmother to Kirsten, Taylor, Emilee, and Andrew and was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Venue at Venus Vogue on Monday September 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kimberly’s name to SECU Family House in Chapel Hill, N.C., at www.secufh.org.
Attendees are welcome to bring a covered dish or any contribution of food to add to the flavor of her celebration and memory. This is not mandatory—we encourage everyone to come, share their memories of Kim, and enjoy the fellowship. There will be plenty of food for all, even if you are unable to contribute.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who checked on them, brought food, and lifted them in prayer during this extremely difficult time.
Her joyful smile and generous spirit reflected the love of Christ she carried in her heart, a love she freely shared with all who knew her.
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”
John 11:25–27
