Larry James Frady Sr., 76, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Born on July 9, 1949, in Fairview, North Carolina, Larry was the son of the late Frank and Minnie Frady.
Following high school, Larry proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction for 20 years, retiring in 1991 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3). During his military career, he played a pivotal role in the development of the first Patriot missile system, which would later become crucial during the Gulf War. His service took him and his family across the globe, though they spent most of their time stationed in Germany and Texas.
After retiring from the military, Larry embraced a life of purpose and continued contribution. He found joy in shaping young minds as an educator at Northwood Temple Academy in Fayetteville. A gifted handyman and car enthusiast, he was always finding something to fix or improve. Above all, Larry had a deep passion for golf and never missed a chance to enjoy a round on the course.
Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, entertaining stories, and his warm sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Kathy, and his daughter, Christina.
He is survived by his children, Vicky (Charles) and Larry Jr. (Veronica); his grandchildren, Christopher, Ashleigh, Olivia, Patricia, Stephanie, Anna, Ben, Lucas, and Abby; his great-granddaughter, Hazel; and his sisters, Mary and Carolyn.
A private service will be held at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In honor of Larry’s memory, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Breast Cancer Foundation—both causes that held a special place in his heart.
