Linda McLellan Collier, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. A lifelong resident of Cumberland County she was born on Christmas day. December 25, 1936 in Falcon. She was the daughter of the late Earl A. McLellan and Madge Lee McLellan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, C. Roger Collier.
Linda was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Eastover, She was a country girl and lived on the family farm her entire life and she enjoyed reminiscing about her days on the farm. She also enjoyed the Duke Blue Devil Basketball games and was a lifelong Los Angeles (Brooklyn) Dodger Baseball fan. Linda worked for the Cumberland County Clerk of Superior Court for 37 years until her retirement. She was an Assistant Clerk and the supervisor of the Wills and Estates Division.
A lifetime member of Black’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she served in numerous positions over the years. She is now with her Lord and the many family members and friends that went on before her.
A service celebrating Linda’s life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Black’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marv Gordner, officiating, assisted by Rev. Gilliam P. (Gill) Wise. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
Linda is survived by her sister, Joy McLellan Tew; nephews, Robert S. (Sandy) Tew, Jr. and wife Renee, Darrin Earl Tew and Stephen Bart Tew; great nephews, Adam Andrew Tew and Stephen Nicholas Tew; great niece, Megan Tew Snider and husband Aaron; great great nephew, Judah Levi Snider; great great niece, Riley Jane Snider all of Dunn; step-daughters, Louise Collier Allen and husband John of Angier, Sybil Collier Hill and husband Tony of Monroe; 5 step grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several special cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Black’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 235, Godwin, N.C. 28344 or to the charity of one’s choice.
