Loyde Leggette Davis

Loyde Leggette Davis, 72, of Eastover, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Loyde was born on August 1, 1953, in Robeson County to James Phineas Davis and Carleen Leggette Davis.  He retired as a Track Operator with CSX Railroad and never met a stranger!  He operated J & L Backhoe Service for many years and was a part of the Eastover Fire Department Auxiliary.  He enjoyed cooking, taking care of his chickens, cutting his grass, and anything outdoors.  He especially enjoyed being with his family.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Debra; his parents; sisters, Sarah Prevatte and Carol Young; and brother, Hilton Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Erin Davis Williams and husband, David; son, Clay Davis and wife, Bethany; grandchildren, Noah House, Madison House, Seth Williams, and Kayden Howell; sister, Gwen Melvin; his beloved dog, Buddy; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11 am in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Eastover Fire Department.
