Lucille Elizabeth Holland Butler, 89, of Fayetteville passed away Monday June 8, 2020 at her residence.
She was born August 6, 1930 in Fayetteville to the late Janie Baker Holland and Clarence Holland. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband John E. Butler and her brother Robert E. Holland.
Lucille was a faithful longtime member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church where she served as a former choir member. During her time as a member at St. Andrews, she enjoyed participating in bible studies and was a member of the XYZ club. Lucille worked as an Eligibility Clerk for the Department of Veteran Affairs retiring after 25 years of service. Her hobbies included gardening, listening to music, and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing and following her friends activities on Facebook. Lucille will be remembered as a loving person who enjoyed caring for others in their time of need. Most of all, Lucille enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth Kay Darnell and husband Butch of Fayetteville and Melinda Sue Helms and husband Mark of Fayetteville; her son John Stephen “Steve” Butler and wife Beth of Fayetteville; her sister Aundrey Fulcher of Fayetteville; three grandchildren Amy Hutchinson, Matthew Darnell, and Rachel Hefner; and five great-grandchildren Hannah, Hunter, Holland, Cole, Camden.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 10 from 1-2PM at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2PM at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Foster officiating.
