Margaret McLaurin Obituary

Margaret passed away unexpectantly at her sister’s home in Smithfield, N.C.  on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 76.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, John C. McLaurin of Eastover and Cortez Jackson of Roseboro; special aunt, Irene T. McLaurin; step-mother, Ina Lee McLaurin.

Margaret was a devoted Christian and talented musician.  She played both the piano and organ for Fayetteville area churches for many years. She was very well known for her musical talent from a young age.   Margaret’s dream was to one day own a baby grand piano and that she did and enjoyed it oh so much!  She worked many years in the Fayetteville area in accounting and retired from Loyd and Bradford Builders.   In her spare time, Margaret was extremely talented in cross-stitch and needlepoint.  Her beautiful creations adorned many walls.  Her meticulous attention to details from her high school and college years and into her adulthood, allowed her to succeed academically, professionally, musically and even in her hobbies.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Eastover, N.C.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Church Parlor one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Otis Collier of Smithfield, her nephew and his wife, Ray Collier and Fran of Deep Run, her niece and her husband, Amy Collier Prakke and Mark of Raleigh, her great nieces and nephew that she loved so dearly and was so proud of:  Brittany Shirley and her husband Tony, Courtney Collier, Whitney Collier, Matt Prakke and Lauren Prakke.  Additionally, her great-great nephew Noah Shirley brightened her days with his contagious smile and stories.

Margaret will be missed by her loving family and friends and her special caretakers and friends, Sheryl Willard and Eula Godwin.
