Marilyn "Sandy" (Johnson) Hair

Marilyn Hair Obituary

Marilyn Sandra "Sandy" Smith Johnson Hair passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Hair was born on April 28 in Dunn, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Hassie and Ruby Smith. She spent her childhood in Dunn and married Denning Cicero “D.C.” Johnson on June 14, 1959.

Sandy and D.C. built a life together with their four children while stationed with the United States Air Force in several places to include Germany, Illinois and the Philippines. While stationed in the Philippines, D.C. was killed in a plane crash in Vietnam. Sandy moved with her children back to the United States and settled in Fayetteville, NC.

Throughout the years, Sandy dedicated her life to raising her children. Her home was always filled with her children and their friends. She was loved by all the kids and they have many fond memories of “Ms. Johnson”.

She married Samuel D. Hair, December 2, 1994. They shared 26 years enjoying spending time together at the beach fishing off the pier, going to auctions, and taking trips to the casinos. The life Sandy and Sam shared was filled with love, happiness and spending time with their children and grandchildren, whom she worshiped.

Sandy was a loving wife and mother. She liked to dance, loved Elvis and found great joy in giving to others.

A private service will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, NC. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date for extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hassie and Ruby Smith and her husband of 16 years, MSGT. Denning Cicero Johnson.
