Martha Faye (Britt) Koonce

Martha Faye Koonce, 89, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025. She was born on August 17, 1935, to the late Jeston and Rosa Britt.

Martha was known for her warm heart, vibrant spirit, and her passion for cooking, especially for her family, whom she cherished deeply. She enjoyed gathering loved ones around her table, sharing delicious meals, and creating lasting memories. Her care for others extended beyond the kitchen; she was a long-time member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active participant in the church community and a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew her.

In her leisure time, Martha enjoyed bowling and spent many enjoyable moments on the lanes with friends and family. Her lively personality and laughter will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her daughters Wanda K. Chason (Willie) and Darlene K. Owensby (Joel); grandchildren Marie Pelkey (Daniel), Amanda Kelly (Billy), Tracy Berryhill (Tim), Jeffrey Koonce, and Amber Matthews; great grandchildren Justin Bill, Sarah Pelkey, Timothy Pelkey, Bobbi Berryhill, William Berryhill, Logan Kelly, Ethan Kelly, and Ava  Kelly; and great-great grandchildren Payton Phillips, Dani Lynn Phillips, Jackson Phillips, and Kylie Bill.

She is also preceded in death by her husband Julius Koonce; sons Jeffrey and Tony Koonce; brothers Jim Britt, Harold Britt, and Buddy Britt; and sisters Jerry Scudder and Sandra Stewart.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 A.M. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 10 A.M. to 10:50 A.M. at the funeral Home. Burial will be private.
