Mary Helen Gregory Langston, 70, passed away on February 18, 2021, at Duke University Hospital. Helen was surrounded by her family, who were abiding in loving prayer. She was a lung cancer survivor, and fought valiantly against leukemia. She had an inspiring, unwavering faith.

Helen was born in Sylva, NC, on December 24, 1950, where she met her husband of 52 years, Fredrick Langston. She worked as a secretary at Western Carolina University, and a law office, before moving to Fayetteville, NC. In Fayetteville, she began working at the United Way. She spent most of her career as an Administrative Assistant for Psychological Services in the Cumberland County School System. She had a heart for children, and volunteered actively with the Child Advocacy Center. Helen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandparent. She enjoyed shopping, watching the boats with her husband from their weekend getaway in Little River, SC, and most recently crafting with her youngest granddaughter in Fayetteville. Helen treasured time and faith centered conversations with her two daughters. She also enjoyed creating many memories with her sisters in the mountains of North Carolina. Helen’s family was her focus and her mission.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Fredrick Langston; her daughters, Cindy Huguley Williams and Angela Langston Rimm. She also is survived by 2 dedicated sons-in-law, Tony Williams and John Rimm. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren, where her impact will undoubtedly create a loving legacy. Additionally, Helen is survived by 3 sisters, Geraldine Dockins, Mary Sue Burns, and Frankie Jean Burrell; and 1 brother, Henry Gregory, Jr. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Lorena Gregory, and a sister, Charlotte Bailey.
