Mary Ida (Washington) Roberts

Mary "Mae" Ida Roberts, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 83. Mary was the daughter of the late Beatrice Long and Armie Washington Sr. 

As a teenager, Mary loved being a majorette. She would later marry and have four children. Mary worked for Cumberland County and retired after many years. She was well known and appreciated for her giving heart, and she will be missed by many. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the church who delighted herself with the love of Jesus.

She was widowed early as she was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Flowers Roberts Sr., her daughter, Delores, was not expected to survive long but lived 16 years, and her only son, Wallace Jr., passed away earlier this year. Her brothers and sisters, Hazel, Caudell, Juanita, Dorether, Armie Jr., and Sena, preceded her in death. She cared for Sena and Armie before her eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Annie and Joyce, and her son-in-law, John, and her grandchildren, Ashley, Eboni, Calvin, Jevon, and Chris. Jackie and the Strother family were her supportive friends for many years.
