Maury Lorne Turner, 54, of Fayetteville, entered the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Kitty Askins Hospice House in Goldsboro.
Maury was an only child, born on November 16, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Henry Elbern Turner and Patsy Fay Bates Gober. He served his country with 4 years in the U.S. Army and retired after serving 25 additional years with the U.S. Air Force.
He was a gentle, kind man and trusted God throughout his life and had a passion for preaching the Word of God. Maury served others humbly, generously, graciously, and always believed in the best of other people. He loved spending time outdoors and with his family. He had a compassionate spirit and always talked about the goodness of God.
Maury received his Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree from Carolina College of Biblical Studies and was currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was an ordained minister and served as the Associate Pastor at Refuge Church until his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his son, Austin Cole Turner in 2013 and paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Stephanie Bralley Turner; sons, Aaron Turner and Andrew Turner; daughter, Aubrey Turner Franks and husband, Jonathan and was the proud papa to his new grandson, Wyatt Asher Franks.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 1 p.m. at The Village Baptist Church, burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors presented by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at The Village Baptist Church.
