Max “Bud” Craven McClellan Sr., 93, the Patriarch of the McClellan family, known to many as “Mr. Outstanding”, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 20th, 2025, at his home in Fayetteville with his family by his side.
Bud was born July 28, 1931, in Lapanto, AK, to George and Eunile McClellan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred McClellan; son, Harold McClellan; and grandson, Jonathan McClellan. Bud was a decorated, career service Green Beret, Command Sergeant Major, longtime deacon and Sunday School teacher at Faymont Baptist Church, and dedicated servant to our Lord. He was also part owner of MC’s Cabinets, the family owned custom cabinet business.
Bud was a devoted and faithful husband to Mildred and a steadfast father to his children. He was passionate about his service to the Lord and his family. He always made it a priority to be present at momentous occasions for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was supportive and encouraging to all, and a faithful prayer warrior for many.
Bud was happily married to the love of his life, Mildred McClellan for 72 beautiful years.
Bud is survived by 3 siblings, Dale McClellan and Kathryn, DeArvin McClellan and Doris, and Clydeann McClellan; 3 children, Max McClellan Jr. and Donna, David McClellan and Charmayne, Dana McClellan and Karen; daughter-in-law, Della McClellan, wife of son, Harold McClellan; and daughter-in-love, Kerbeline Carter (Pete), whom Bud and Mildred loved as a daughter. Bud has been blessed beyond measure with grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Their grandchildren listed in order with their family below; Max III and Kristina (Mikylee, Craven); Jeff and Melonie Rumler (Danielle, Maci, Paisley); Matthew and Rae (Gavin, Ava, Wyatt); Christopher and Kaira (Isabella, Rachael, Christopher); Stephen and Kristi (Karalynn, Kaci); Kyle and Jessica (Levi, Lillia); Luke and Christina (Emerson); Sam (Leah); Kendall (Easton); and great-great grandchildren, Malik and Zeke.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10 to 11 am at Faymont Baptist Church located at 3663 Cumberland Rd., Fayetteville, NC. A funeral service will follow at 11am in the church. Entombment will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
