Mrs. May Yin Mark of Fayetteville, NC, passed peacefully on her 94th birthday, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.
May was born October 26, 1929, in China. May was the owner/operator of the Young China Laundry in downtown Fayetteville for many years. She enjoyed being at the beach and especially fishing off the Surf City Pier. After retirement, she enjoyed oil and water-color painting and won many awards for her work. Many of her paintings were inspired by her time on the NC coast.
May is survived by her husband, Loy Mark; daughters, Janet Shih (and husband Jason), Genice Wong (and husband Doug), and Doris Chin; grandchildren, Jennifer Aleman (and husband Chad), Jeff Shih (and wife Sue), Stephanie Ewing (and husband David), Melinda Hsu (and husband Ben), and Brad Wong; twelve great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack Mark.
A gathering of family and friends will be conducted Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, followed by a Prayer service at the Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301, at approximately 11:00 a.m.
