Michael David Barbour

Michael David Barbour, 54, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, while on vacation with his family at Topsail Beach.

David was born on June 10, 1970, in Durham County to Richard Daniel Barbour and Ellen Jaye Williams Barbour.

In 1988, David graduated from Pine Forest High School, where he took pride in being the captain of the soccer team. It was there where he found the love of friends. He then attended UNC Charlotte where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Campbell University.

After his father and grandfather’s passing, David managed the family business, Hamont Bodywork’s, Inc. for many years before closing the business in 2020. He then joined his Aunt Lynn at Lynn Wilkinson NCCP as a paralegal assistant, where he was currently employed.

David had a heart of gold and was always serving others. He was always ready to have fun and was the life of the party. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, playing golf, softball and had a passion for animals and he was known for supporting several animal charities.

He loved deeply and was dedicated to Susi and Jacqueline. David was always taking care of his girls. He looked up to his Uncle David Williams, who he was named after, and his Aunt Marsha.  

David was preceded in death by his father, Richard Barbour; paternal grandparents, Leon and Lula Mae Barbour; maternal grandparents, Donald J. Williams and Eleanor Johnson Williams.

He is survived by his mother, Jaye Barbour; sister, Heather Barbour; brother, Tony Colletta; partner, Susi Eitel; daughter, Jacqueline Eitel’ and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 1-1:45 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.
