Michael Douglas Gibson, 65, of Fayetteville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Michael was born on April 8, 1958, in Cumberland County, to the late Fay Daniel Gibson and Alimena McLamb Gibson. He was a 1976 graduate of Terry Sanford High School and graduated from East Carolina University in 1980 with a degree in Political Science.
Michael was a Master Carpenter; he built many homes from the coast to the Southern Pines area. He also did renovations where he specialized in cabinetry. He worked in the buildings of many physicians, lawyers, and churches, especially at Highland Presbyterian Church.
Michael loved the Lord and was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer with the Balm in Gilead. He was a huge football fan where he pulled for the Chicago Bears and East Carolina, however his main interest was history and the Civil War.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his darling-darling, Tina Williams; sons, Zachary Gibson and wife Erika, Taylor Gibson; daughter, Kaylan Gibson; brother, Ken Gibson, and wife Peggy; mother of his children, Dina Gibson; and his fur baby, Rori.
