Obituary

Milton Wesley Jackson, III (Jay), 45, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2023, from treatment complications during his heroic battle with cancer. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Jay was a private and quiet person, but very witty and full of fun! He was a cigar enthusiast and was well known for his love of his many books, movies and rock and roll albums. Jay could always be counted on as a dedicated and hard worker.

Jay was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

He was born on July 26, 1978, to his mother Alfreda Lee. He grew up in Fayetteville, NC. He graduated from Berean Baptist Academy, Class of 1996.

Jay is preceded in death by his father, R. David Reeser; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Wallace Gibert; paternal grandparents, Milton and Etta Jackson, Peggy Reeser, Robert Junior Reeser (Clara); uncle, Alfred Chason, Jr.; great uncles, Sherrill Gibert, Clinton Gibert, Mitchell Gibert; and cousin, Wade Coats.

Jay is survived by his loving mother, Alfreda Lee Chason-Reeser; sister, Amber Cherise Jackson; paternal uncles, Robert (Bobby) Jackson (Rebecca), Richard (Ricky) Jackson; maternal uncles, Dale Chason (Linda), Willie Chason (Wanda), Wallace Gibert, Jr., James Gibert (Mandy), paternal aunts, Robyn Burkett (David), Deborah Counterman; maternal aunts, Jacqueline West (Damon), Dorothy Ann Mendez, Rose Russ (George); cousins, Ryan Minton, Jason Long (Kristen), Cynthia Jackson-Delawder (Chris), Tiffany Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Melissa West, Robert West, Casey Horne, Wesley Horne, Amanda Belanger (AJ),  Miriam Pate; great aunts, Celia Gullickson, Lela Rae Pate, Ross Ann Ring, Brenda Gibert, Pat Coats (Gene), Pam Searle (Bob); bonus family members Albert Lowry, Tonya Lowry, Curt and Annemarie Estep, Christina Estep (Leo), Jenna Estep, Loranne and Thomas Sewell, Jerry Turner, Elaine Merlino, Bob and Marcia Peace, Mike Rodriguez, Fernando Medina, Ray Kennedy, Alan Gagnon; nieces, Skyelynn and Scarlett Taylor; his beloved cat, Leigh; and a host of beloved cousins, friends, and family.

We would love for those who knew him to remember his life with us. The celebration of life is scheduled for Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC. The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7:00 PM. The service will follow directly at 7:00 PM.
