Mitzi Jane Hair Squire, 74, of Fayetteville, passed away unexpectedly February 10, 2021 surrounded by her three children and sister.
Mitzi was born in Fayetteville, NC on May 12, 1946 and is survived by her daughter Susan Tiger (Jack); grandson Nicholas Tiger of Bull Run Mountain, VA; granddaughter Jessica Tiger of Apex; daughter Sheri Squire; grandson Jordan Gross of Fayetteville; and son Joseph Squire Jr. (Catie); granddaughters Faith and Joy of Fayetteville. Mitzi is also survived by her sister Melissa Barbour of Fayetteville and many nieces and nephews that brought her such joy.
Mitzi was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, LTC (Ret) Joseph William Squire Sr.; parents, John E. Hair Sr and Levada B. Hair; brother John E. Hair Jr. Mitzi was first and foremost, a faithful partner to her husband Bill. She supported his military career, attending and planning many military social events as well as manning the home front while he was deployed. She was also a caring mother and sister, unselfishly attending to the needs of others. She was actively involved in her children’s education, volunteering at the old St. Patrick’s School and being part of the Fall Festival at St. Patrick’s Church. She also extended that volunteerism to her grandchildren’s schools. She was a natural caregiver. When her mother, Levada, was ill, Mitzi moved Levada into her home in order to give the best possible care. She kept a meticulous house and cooked as if she was feeding an army, making sure no one went without. She loved unconditionally, be it a person or a stray animal. She attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church and it was her faith that gave her strength during life’s trials and tribulations including all of Bill’s cancers and eventual passing.
