Pat Nanney Sessoms, 74, of Fayetteville, NC, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was at her home, surrounded by her family when she passed on to Heaven.
Pat was born on July 29, 1947, in Shelby, NC to the late Bobby F. Nanney and Margaret E. Nanney.
Pat was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, Class of 1965. She was a member of Northwood Temple Church, where she sang in the choir and participated in the annual “Smith Corners” church dinner theater. She is known for her comical portrayal of the part of “Janie Smith” in the dinner theater.
Pat served as a teacher’s assistant and as the front office secretary at Vanstory Elementary School in Fayetteville for many years until retirement.
Pat was a figure in the Haymount neighborhood, where she raised her family on Glenville Avenue and served as a community mom to her three sons’ neighborhood friends. She was the consummate hostess, and her kitchen and dining table were always open to friends and family.
Pat was a phenomenal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, daughter, and friend to all who knew her, but most importantly, she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. We mourn her loss here on earth, but we celebrate her reception into her eternal home in Heaven! We will see her again!
Pat was preceded in Heaven by her father, Bobby Nanney, her mother, Margaret Nanney, and her nephew, Tracy Woodward Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry Sessoms Sr. of Fayetteville, NC; sons, Larry Sessoms Jr. and wife Tiffany, Jesse Sessoms and wife Laura, and Christian Sessoms and wife Jennifer, all of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Barbara Woodward and husband Tracy of Zebulon, NC, and Angie Hedgepeth and husband Philip of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Logan Sessoms, Kaleb Sessoms, Abby Sessoms, John Sessoms, Aiden Sessoms, Martha Sessoms, and Caroline Sessoms, all of Fayetteville, NC; nephews and nieces, Jess Sessoms and wife Mary of Charlotte, NC, Sim Sessoms and husband Howard of Goldsboro, NC, Daniel Woodward of Zebulon, NC, and Ben and Will Hedgepeth of Fayetteville, NC.
The family will receive visitors in the main sanctuary at Northwood Temple Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Visitation will be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
