Paul Steven Fussell, 66, of Eastover, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
Steve was born in Cumberland County on April 3, 1956, and he had a love for the UNC Tarheels and Washington Redskins.
Steve was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, papa, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Trustees, food pantry, bus driver for SMASH, maintenance of the church and the church cemetery. He had a passion for the homeless and loved to cook for the Family Promise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edison Fussell and his grandmother, Mary Fussell, who took a leading role in raising Steve.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debora Fussell; daughter, Crystal Fussell (Elle); son, Steven Fussell (Cyndl); and was Papa Steve to his only granddaughter, Baylee Fussell; mother, Barbara Fussell; siblings, Gail Sheffield (Dave), Paulette Blackwell, Glenda Graham, Sandra Wells (Brian), Dennis Fussell (Ruth), Joe Sheffield (Lauren); Jennifer Berkett; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews that he adored.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 12 to 2 pm at Salem United Methodist Church. The Memorial Service will follow at 2 pm.
