Peter Muraski Obituary

Peter Gerard Muraski was born in West Point, New York on January 31st, 1959, to parents Florence Rose Dul of Brooklyn, New York, and Walter Pete Muraski of the Ukraine, while serving as an instructor at West Point. Growing up, his family made various locations in the United States and Europe home until his father’s retirement in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Pete was a graduate of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville and studied architectural drafting at Fayetteville Technical Institute. Peter had a deep love and passion for woodworking and became an accomplished master woodworking craftsman, working many years as a fine furniture cabinet drafter and builder. He later took a position with Kelly Springfield/Goodyear Tire Company as a tire builder and, up until his much-deserved retirement, worked in curing along with being a Union representative.

In 1982, he married the love of his life, Donna Sanders-Muraski, whom he affectionally referred to as “Sweetpea.” Pete and Donna greatly enjoyed their lives together for nearly forty-three years, being blessed in 2002 with the greatest joy of their life, his daughter Victoria Grace. His knowledge of history, especially regarding military history, knew no bounds and was unparalleled by the common man, despite there being nothing common about him. He greatly enjoyed music of all genres and was a devoted Tar Heels fan; was an avid hunter and a lover of fishing, and a passionate studier and reader of the history he loved. Pete was greatly admired and loved by his wife and daughter, along with all those who were blessed to have known him. There are and never will be words known to man which can describe the depth of love his family has for him, the respect and regard they hold for him is immeasurable. All those who ever crossed paths with him surely enjoyed his kind and jovial nature and will hopefully remember him as the epitome of a good man, and the most wonderful human being he was and will remain. Pete has always been and will forever be the rock and the soft place for his family, the legacy he leaves will be ever cherished and as his family moves forward, he will be carried in their hearts every second of every hour of every day until they are reunited with him in heaven. Pete’s character was and will remain beyond reproach and his moral compass always pointed toward the Lord.

He is survived by the loves of his lives, his beloved wife Donna and cherished daughter Grace; brother-in-law, “brother-in-arms,” J. Steven Sanders; dearly loved sister Christina Muraski; adored nephews Mick and Landon Sugar, their spouses respectively Ande and Rachel; and our dear cousin Charlotte Stickland. Let us not forget the furry children he loved so much, his “baby girl” Nadia and his “favorite granddoggy” Beau.

Pete will forever be in our hearts and minds; never to be forgotten. He will be loved endlessly and will forever be remembered as our “Bubba,” best friend, and dearest father. How blessed are we to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard, we look so forward to when we are together again.
