Rans "Sherwood" Brock

Rans Sherwood Brock, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice House on April 21, 2026.

Sherwood was born in Autryville, North Carolina, in 1936 to Rans and Cherry Brock. He earned an associate's degree and went on to have a successful career as an engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he worked until his retirement. He also proudly served in the United States Army.

Sherwood was a fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dallas, Johnny, Wade, and William; and his sisters, Cherry and Mannie. He is survived by his partner of 50 years, Ruth Williams; his brother, David Brock; and many other loving relatives.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Johnson and Brock Cemetery in Autryville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Valley Hospice House.
