Raymond Decipulo Obituary

Raymond Anthony Decipulo, 61, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Center, in Black Mountain, NC, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s-Dementia.

He was born in Dededo, Guam and was the son of Ernesto Decipulo (Nemia) and the late Mercedes Pangilinan.

At the age of 18, Raymond enlisted in the US Army. He valued his 22 years of service highly and attained the rank 1SG. During his active-duty service, he was a part of the 82nd Airborne Division and later served as a Logistician for the United States Army Special Forces Command. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award). He was also a decorated member of the Sergeant Morales Club.  Upon his active-duty retirement, he worked 6 years in the Civil Service. Much like his prestigious Army career, his exemplary work was valued by being awarded the Achievement Medal for Civil Service, attaining the GS-13 position.

Aside from his military service, his greatest accomplishment was his family. His family and love for the Lord served as his inspiration. Raymond was a devoted father to his four children and later enjoyed the honor of being a grandfather. As the eldest of nine siblings, he was committed to serving as a supporter and role model for his younger siblings.

Raymond was preceded in death by his son Wilson and his brother Jesse.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen; his children, Raymond Jr. (Naomi), Alicia, Fatima, Daniel; his siblings, Salvador, Norbert (Norma), Rosaline (John), David (Mae), Tina (James), Aleks (Jen), Lorena (Gerald), Andrew (Jonavie); his grandsons, Keoni, Joshua, Jeremiah.

His visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Center staff for all the love, care, and dedication they have shown to Raymond.
